Director of ‘Dam 999’ Goes to Court!

Multilingual film ‘Dam 999’ was released all over the world with a grand opening.

But, in Tamil Nadu the film was banned because of the content of the film indirectly depicts the political issue of Mullai Periyar Dam and indirectly supports the construction of a new dam in the site.

Now, the debut director of the film Sohan Roy has moved to the court seeking the revocation of the ban imposed on the film by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The director, on Wednesday, filed a petition with the Supreme Court to intervene in the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu and allow him to screen it in the state. “It is a love story with a backdrop of a problem of a dam collapse and is nothing to do with Mullai Periyar Dam,” says the director. The director has already made a documentary on the core issue of Mullai Periyar Dam supporting the cause of the Kerala people.

‘Dam 999’ features Vinay Rai, Vimala Raman, Ashish Vidyarthi, Joshua Fredric Smith, Rajit Kapur and Linda Arsenio and produced by Biz TV Network.
