It was well known that yesteryear actor Karthik’s son Gautham has been roped in to do the protagonist role in director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film.
As the film is all set to go on floors soon the director had a test shoot on the lead actor Gautham recently with other cast and crew members in Chennai.
Sources close to the filmmaker say that young actor Gautham has impressed Mani Ratnam with his performance in the test shoot and the director is in all praise for the debutant for his talents, sincerity and dedication. Other cast and crew members were also in big appreciation for the new face actor.
The yet-to-be-titled film depicts the plight of the fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan security forces on the coasts of southern Tamil Nadu. A R Rahman is scoring the music and Rajeev Menon handling the camera. The director is yet to finalise the heroine of the film.
