59th National Awards Reports | Full Details

One of the prestigious film industries in South India is Kollywood with many big stars entertaining the audiences’ world wide. This mega industry has won the 59th National Awards announced today for the movies released during 2011.
Action entertainer, Aaranya Kaandam has bagged two awards one for director Thiagarajan Kumararaja as Best debutant director and Best Editor award for Praveen. Suseenthiran’s mystery-drama Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai is selected as Best Entertaining Film and Appukutty has won the Best Supporting Actor.
Vaagai Sooda Vaa directed by newcomer A Sargunam with Vimal and Iniya in the lead is honoured with the Best Regional Film of 2011 in 59th National Awards and Veteran actress Revathi has won National award for Best Documentory.

Best Book Award: Anirudha Bhattacharjee and Balaji Vittal for the title ‘R.D. Burman The Man, The Music.’
Best Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya for ‘I AM’
Best Actor: Girish Kulkarni for ‘Deool’
Best Actress: Vidya Balan for ‘The Dirty Picture’
Best Costume: Neeta Lulla for ‘Bal Gandharva’ (Marathi) and Niharika Khan for ‘The Dirty Picture’ (Hindi)

Best Choreography: Bosco and Ceaser for ‘Zindagi Naa Milegi Doobara’

Best Special Effects: ‘RA.One’

Special Jury Award: Anjan Dutta
Best Editing: Praveen KL for ‘Aaranya Kaandam’

Best Marathi Film: ‘Shaala’
