A Tribute to Isaignani’s ‘How To Name It’

Bhavatharini, singer-composer and daughter of Maestro Ilaiyaraja, is organizing a Live-in concert to pay tributes to ‘How To Name It’, the music album composed by ‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraja 25 years ago. The concert is being held on 29 April, 2012 at Anna Centenary Library Auditorium, Kotturpuram, Chennai at 6:30 pm.



       Ambi Subramaniam, the violin whiz-kid and son of legendary violin maestro Dr. L Subramaniam, will lead other artists with his violin performance. Veena exponent Rajesh Vaidya will join Ambi with his veena recitals.

       40 singers and instrumentalists from Ilaiyaraja’s orchestra and popular singers including Sriram Parthasarathy, Shalini and Vilasini will fill the air with their music in the event. Ilaiyaraja’s sons Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja and Bhavatharini’s cousins Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Ameren are also appearing on stage.

            It is expected that the Maestro will deliver a special speech to the audience at the event. The show will be conducted by Prabhakaran, who has worked with Ilaiyaraja for many years.

      “It is been 25 years since the making and release of the album ‘How to Name it?’ of my dad. He composed this album as his tribute to the music greats Bach and Thiagarajar and we, through this show in turn paying our tributes to dad and the album,” says Bhavatharini.

     “The proceeds from the event will go to Jeeva Foundation, the trust we have started after my mother’s name to work for the underprivileged children,” adds Bhavatharini.
