The ace director Mani Ratnam, who is busy shooting for Kadal with Samantha and newbie Gautham, has just roped in Devi for a pivotal role in Kadal.
Kadal has many surprises for audiences, as it also marks the come back venture of Aravind Swamy with his mentor Mani Ratnam along with music composer AR Rahman. Devi, who has recently played Jeeva’s sister in Shankar’s Nanban, is part of prominent Tamil theater group Koothu-p-pattarai, an active participant and runs regular workshops.
Knowing about Devi and after watching her throughout the workshop Mani Ratnam wanted Devi to play Gautham’s mother in Kadal. Mani Ratnam himself is producing Kadal on his Madras Talkies banner.
Jeyamohan, who has penned the script of Kadal along with Mani has even turned lyricist penning a couple of songs for the film. Kadal includes Rajiv Menon’s cinematography and A. Sreekar Prasad’s editing among the technical crew.
