OK OK collection overtakes Mankatha?

Producer-distributor turned actor Udhayanidhi Stalin is obviously over the moon with the box-office response to his Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK) which released last month.
The film, which pits the debutant hero opposite Hansika, has been doing reasonably well at all the centres thanks to the light humour which is prevalent throughout the film. Comedian Santhanam's performance in the film is cited as a major reason for the film's success.

Music by Harris Jayaraj was okay but none of the songs went on to become chart-busters. In the meantime, Udhaya has come out with an interesting piece of information about the film. He has claimed that the number of audiences who have watched the film, which was released in more than 400 screens all over the world, has crossed the viewership of his earlier production, the Ajith-starrer Mankatha.

The film, which is into its fifth week, has reportedly registered a light dip in collections in the rural areas. Even the collections in the urban localities have also recorded a decline as another humour-filled film Kalakalappu has released over the weekend. Directed by Sundar C, the film stars the likes of Vimal, 'Mirchi' Siva, Anjali, Oviya and Santhanam.

Currently on tour in Europe, Udhayanidhi has said that "I have received information from reliable sources which say that the number of audiences who have flocked the theatres in Tamil Nadu to watch OKOK has crossed the numbers which saw Mankatha in theatres and is nearing the record registered by 7am Arivu," and added that it was not important as to who was the 'reason' for the film's success and said that it mattered as to how much the film collected at the box-office.
