Twenty-year-old Ashima Sharma from Jodhpur is all set to make her debut in movies and interestingly, it will not be any glam girl sort of a role. She will be essaying the role of Mahipal Maderna’s daughter, Divya in ” Bhanwari Ka Jaal”.
Mahipal is an Indian politician who was sacked in 2011 for the Bhanwari Devi murder case, but his daughter played and still continues to play an important role in his life as she stood by his father and supported him through thick and thin. When people ostracised Maderna, Divya gathered lakhs of people and addressed them, she even took care of the court cases and till date, goes to the jail to meet Maderna.
“For such a bold and daring role, we were looking for an equally bold girl and after auditioning a lot of girls, we zeroed in on Ashima Sharma for Divya’s role,” said Ranjeet Sharma, producer of the movie. About the girl, he said, “She is the president of her college in Jodhpur and keeps meeting political people. She is very politically aware.”
When we contacted Ashima, she told us, “I am very excited to be part of a movie which is based on the life of Bhanwari Devi. I have closely followed the case during my college days,” adding, “I am known for being bold in college and I have experienced all the political drama during college elections. I have even met Vasundhara Raje, Ashok Gehlot and other political people, so for me, I don’t have to prepare for the role. I just have to play my real self.”
