When the Bhatts announced a talent hunt for Aashiqui 2, almost 22 years after the first one became a super duper hit, it seemed as if history would repeat itself and we would see two newcomers being launched once again. But the Bhatts have dashed our hopes.
We told you how they have signed Aditya Roy Kapur for the male lead. Now we hear that they have cast the female lead too. And it’s none other than Shraddha Kapoor. Shakti Kapoor’s daughter – who debuted with Teen Patti and starred as the main lead in Luv Ka The End – confirmed to a daily that she has bagged the film.
We also hear that her character won’t be half as innocent as Anu’s convent-educated girl was. The Bhatts are planning to make the female protagonist more sensual. Is that why they cancelled the talent hunt? Or are they just not in the mood to stake their moolah on fresh faces this time around?
Either way, it’s too bad that Aashiqui 2 will not be the launchpad that Aashiqui was
