Ko fame Karthika has been signed to play the pivotal heroine role in SP Jhananathan's Purampokku. Though it is a two hero subject, with Arya and Vijay Sethupathui coming together for the first time, there is only one heroine. Karthika Nair, daughter of Radha, top Tamil and Telugu heroine from yesteryear, who was jinxed despite debuting with a blockbuster hit, 'Ko', is back with a bang. Director Jhananathan, known for his sensitive portrayals, has brought her on board for his upcoming film, 'Purampokku'.
The two film old Karthika was chosen as she could speak Tamil fluently and has to share screen space with two tall heroes. She is also expected to do some deadly action scenes in the film. Apparently, though there are two fast rising heroes, Arya and Vijay Sethupathi, in 'Purampokku', the director in an earlier interview to us had said that the script demanded only one heroine. He said that he was looking out for a girl who was one or two films old and one who under stood Tamil well. He also added that apart from romancing the hero, the girl had a few action sequences as well. And fortunately, Karthika has been roped in for that. Karthika who started her Tollywood innings with Naga Chaitanya in 'Josh', which sank without a trace, later did Dammu with Jr NTR. Though her last Tamil film, 'Annakodi', with ace director Bharathiraja, was a box office disaster, the leggy lass was noticed for her realistic performance. Meanwhile Karthika's new film with Arun Vijay, Deal has been completed and is ready for release. Purampokku is going to be a big break for Karthika.
